Artwork

My artwork has been described as an active and gestural type of abstract expressionism. Broad strokes and organic shapes consume the canvas. I become one with the work; so absorbed and only inches away from the canvas at times as I pile on paint and medium, then scrape it away or make marks to reveal that which lies beneath the surface.

I use acrylics because my pieces tend to be multi-layered and this medium dries quickly enough to satisfy my impatience, as well as my love of visually tactile artwork. I will continue to explore the multi-layered textural worlds of assemblage and collage; how unlikely pairings of textiles, found objects, and resistive substrates can create a truly 3-dimensional experience.
