I’ve been expressing myself visually and verbally for quite a while; from the age of 6 months, according to my mother. I don’t know about that but I seem to have been compelled to write, sew, knit, crochet, paint, do crewel embroidery – even sculpt sand – since I was 7 years old.
While I am mostly self-taught, I had some formal training as an undergraduate in drawing (pencil and charcoal), pen and ink techniques, color theory, and art history (to go along with my math degree) at Dominican University.
As an adult, I pushed my artistic sensibilities to the sidelines, opting instead to use my creativity to find innovative technology and web solutions to business problems. I seem to have come back around to the need to more directly express myself by clarifying the visual narrative of my expressive and colorful art. The voice of my ‘creative imperative’ is singing loud and long. I hope you enjoy the show.
