Texture. Color. Movement. These are the principles that guide my work. As a contemporary abstract expressionist, my style can be best described as exuberant, colorful, dynamic and free-flowing. Often the pieces explode with intense colors blending into one another, creating something new as they move together.
When I paint, I use a variety of tools to lay a foundation of the piece. What happens next is often a happy accident of layer on layer of color and texture; palette knives slicing, piling, scraping; dry brushes providing a barely-there visual underpinning.
I am of the mind that, whether it’s photography, painting, or creating textiles, each work is an expression of the human need to communicate; to give visual voice to the creative imperative within all of us.
